Writing Process

A lot of my music comes from personal experience, almost like a therapy outlet. I like to take this and adapt it into metaphors.

I like to write about personal experiences as listeners can relate to it with their own problems.

Normally I will freestyle over a whole beat in one recording and then listen back to it. I will then pick a line that I liked and write the song based off that.

When I hit writers block I will turn to RhymeZone which is a website for finding rhyming words. I also will take inspiration from songs about similar themes. However I would never intentionally steal lyrics.

Beat Creation

When it comes to creating beats I typically lean towards more punk and rock instruments but I also love to create alternative pop and dance beats. Whatever I am in the mood for is what I will create.

I will first look for a nice guitar or arp depending on the genre. and slowly build up supporting instruments like a bass line/ bass guitar, keyboard, synths, FX, brass and most importantly drums.

I also like making each part of the song sound different. For example verse 1 and 2 will sound different. I'm also a big fan of having a 'breakdown' after a chorus.

If I ever get stuck with creating my own beats I will go onto BeatStars which is a website full of music producers who will sell you their beats with official legal licensing. Most producers will price their beats anywhere from $15-$50.

Recording

When recording I use a pair of Skullcandy Crusher EVO headphones to reduce any playback in my vocals. I pair these headphones with a HyperX microphone with a pop filter to reduce background noise/ unwanted sounds and allow for crisp vocals.

I try and soundproof using towels and thick clothes hung up around my recording space. This doesn't always work, soundproof panels would be ideal, but good ones are very expensive.

When recording music, I like to layer my vocals. Having my voice quieter in a major key behind my main vocal line, which will be sung in the minor key but louder. This allows for a smooth contrast and makes the vocals hit harder.

I also use a vocal effect that changes my voice using AI to sound very high pitch, almost feminine. Using this to my advantage will make the song more textured and emotional.

Influence

My main influence when it comes to  music production is the weather. Pathetic Fallacy plays a big part in my life, if the weather is rainy I'll tend to make a sad/angry song. If the weather is cloudy I'll typically make a song questioning something, or a chilled out song. If the weather is sunny I'll make a upbeat happy song.

My style in music draws a lot on Y2K pop/hip-hop and modern day punk. My lyric writing is commonly influenced by personal situations, In the last six months I have been trying to write about more regular every day experiences in hopes of relating to a wider audience.

My music inspirations varies depending on what I'm currently listening to, but my natural inspirations when making Pop/hip-hop are The Kid Laroi, Lil Tecca, The Weeknd and Michael Jackson. When I'm making post-punk music my artist inspiration would be ThxSoMch, Max Fry, Aziya and Depeche Mode.

Promotion

When It comes to promoting my music. I use Instagram and TikTok as my main promotional platforms, as I feel this resonates with the largest portion of my audience (18-24 year olds).

The content that I use to promote comes from the third party distributor I use called DistroKid. DistroKid will create little promotional cards for a song release. I will post these on Instagram. I will also make short form content on CapCut to be uploaded onto TikTok.

Occasionally I will also post on my personal Facebook to try and get family and friends to listen to my new release.
